Discover how to empower children with medical conditions or disabilities to enjoy active play tailored to their health needs.

Join Children’s Health Canada as we share insights from our research study conducted at leading children’s hospitals. Learn about their toolkit of resources designed to support healthcare providers and families in promoting physical activity. Hear firsthand experiences from a parent participant, insights from the study’s lead scientist, and perspectives from the Canadian Congenital Heart Alliance on collaborating for healthier, more active lifestyles.

Learning Objectives:

• Be aware of new resources for supporting and promoting healthy, active lifestyles among children with medical conditions and disabilities.

• Have increased capacity to effectively communicate activity recommendations from healthcare providers to families, teachers, coaches and others.

• Understand the perspective of families who participate in physical activity research, how they view their research participation and the benefits and limitations they perceive.

• Be aware of new research evidence demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of incorporating physical activity counselling into clinical care as a routine part of the clinic visit.
