Sending Out Roots: Connecting Indigenous Stories of Place to the Curriculum

August 24 - 24, 2023 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Natural Curiosity is excited to host Caleb Wesley in our upcoming webinar Sending Out Roots: Connecting Indigenous Stories of Place to the Curriculum. Caleb is a science educator who specializes in engagement and outreach for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth and educators to build knowledge, capacity and competency in integrating Indigenous ways of knowing into their teaching and learning. This 1-hour webinar will take place on Thursday August 24, 2023 1:00-2:00PM EST and will include a 15 minute Q&A. The Indigenous lens on Branch II of Natural Curiosity’s four-branch framework says, “Indigenous perspectives highlight a multi-layered relationship to space and place, over many generations, that cut across time, both in our physical world and in the subtle and metaphysical realms.” This webinar will deeply explore a lesson that Caleb created connecting the star story of The Fisher, as shared by Isaac Murdoch, to the Ontario curriculum through building circuit constellations with students. This lesson serves as a model for building these connections in a good way across the curriculum in Ontario and beyond!
