Interpretive Specialist Course with Interpretive Guides Association (Virtual)

May 30 - June 9, 2022

The Interpretive Guides Association is a not-for-profit professional body representing interpretive guides, outdoor leaders, and educators who connect people to Canada’s natural and cultural areas. Like any professionals, interpreters, guides and educators need professional representation, certification, and ongoing opportunities for learning and discovery. The Interpretive Guides Association provides services that support guides and ensure visitors that go out with them have enjoyable, safe, and memorable experiences.

The Interpretive Guides Association offers a series of training courses and exams that certify Interpretive Guides have the skills and knowledge to effectively communicate our unique local natural and cultural heritage to visitors.

We provide training focused on interpreting the natural and cultural heritage of the areas we work in for:

  • hiking guides
  • museum interpreters
  • bus tour guides
  • information centre staff
  • rafting guides
  • cycling and mountain biking guides
  • horse packing guides
  • scuba guides
  • mountain guides
  • and anyone interested in learning more about the the areas we teach.
